Kayaker rescued on Clackamas River: 'Life jacket saved my life'
The Clackamas Fire boat rescue team rescued a stranded 54-year-old kayaker along the Clackamas River on Saturday.
Firefighters said the kayaker was found on shore, suffering from mild hypothermia and too weak to blow his emergency whistle.
The kayaker told firefighters that he had flipped his kayak and was stranded for about two hours. Firefighters said that he told them that his “life jacket saved my life.”
A person on a personal watercraft spotted the kayaker at about 5 p.m. stranded on the south shore of the river.
The boat rescue team took the kayaker to the Riverside boat launch. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
