The officer partnered with the dog noticed "Duke" was missing form his kennel around 4:45 p.m. and had chewed his way out during the thunderstorms.
Officers searched the area of the home near 208th Street and the Mountain Highway in Spanaway, and finally located the dog Friday afternoon.
Duke was found in a woman's yard Friday, according to Lakewood police. The woman says she called Duke by name, and contacted police after seeing news coverage of a missing dog. Duke is in good health and back with his handler.
Duke is a lab retriever mix who is approximately 10 1/2-years-old and has 6 1/2 years of service with Lakewood Police, said Lt. Chris Lawler. Duke is micro-chipped and wears the same collar as in the photo above.
Lt. Chris Lawler and the Lakewood Police Department thank the public for their help in finding Duke.
