Make a Wish grants little girl's mermaid dream
PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Make a Wish Foundation helped grant a Portland girl's dream Saturday.
Wren Grabham, 10, suffers from a degenerative muscle disease. She made a wish for her own therapy pool.
"Her story is that she loves to swim, she feels so good in the water. And Make a Wish granted her wish and then threw her a big party to celebrate," her mom Cheryl Grabham explained.
The foundation got Wren a pool, and a party centered around her favorite thing: mermaids.
"Many girls who experience spinal muscular atrophy don't have the ability to walk and they really identify with mermaids because they don't walk," Cheryl Grabham said.
Mayor Charlie Hales also named Saturday, Aug. 6 "Mermaid Day."
