Man accused of breaking pot dispensary's window with hammer
PORTLAND, Ore. - A man ran across I-205 to try and escape officers early Tuesday morning after police say he used a hammer to break into a Portland marijuana dispensary.
Police arrived at the Progressive Collective Dispensary on East Burnside just before 3 a.m. Tuesday to find Shaquille Laray Brown, 22, trying to shatter the front window of the shop, Portland Police said.
Officers watched from the Burnside Street overpass as Brown ran west across the lanes of I-205.
A K-9 Unit officer and his partner "Hunter" searched the area with several other officers, eventually finding Brown hiding in a house's yard.
Brown was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on attempted burglary, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and interfering with a peace officer. His arraignment is set for Wednesday.
