Man arrested, more victims sought in child sex abuse case

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Detectives arrested a Forest Grove man on sex abuse charges and fear there may be more underage victims.

Sgt. Bob Ray with the Washington County Sheriff's Office said detectives have been investigating Steven Douglas Rockett, 44, for the last 14 years, but they were unable to get enough evidence to charge him with a crime until Friday.

Detectives received a tip that Rockett recently had sexual contact with three underage girls in Aloha and solicited a nude photo from at least one of them.

Detectives arrested Rockett on Friday at his home.

Washington County detectives believe Rockett has "engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct with numerous underage victims for many years," Ray said in a news release.

Rockett has traveled extensively over the years, including internationally. Rockett didn't know any of his victims, Ray told KATU.

Detectives took Rockett to the Washington County Jail where he's being held on $500,000 bail. He faces charges including rape (second degree), sodomy and sex abuse.

Anyone with information about Rockett is asked to call Washington County detectives at 503-846-2500.
