Man charged with shooting one man, hitting another in head with shovel

PORTLAND, Ore. - A Portland man turned himself in early Sunday after a confrontation on Saturday ended with one man shot and another man injured from an attack with a shovel, police said.

Shelby Lee Kyles, 35, turned himself in around 3 a.m. and was charged with first- and second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Jose Lopez-Mathison, 26, was shot in the leg and Jose Cardenas, 28, was hit in the head with a shovel around 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Police said the three knew each other and were fighting.
