Man dies after SE Portland hit-and-run, police seek driver
PORTLAND, Ore. - Police are looking for a driver that struck and killed a pedestrian near Southeast 29th and Stark Street early Sunday morning.
Police arrived on scene just after 2 a.m. to find Chris Chandler, 34, suffering from traumatic injuries. He was taken to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased by medical staff.
Witnesses told police that he was hit by a white 4-door Honda Civic that continued going west on Stark after the crash. The driver is described as a white male with short, possibly blonde hair.
According to police the licence plate number was similar to I-V-D-1-0-3-6, from an unknown state. The vehicle might have front end damage and a possible broken windshield.

Christopher Brian Chandler, 34, was a musician and a big supporter of the Portland music community.
Witnesses said Chris was talking with a band after their performance at a local venue on Stark Street when he was struck by the passing car.
"What he loved he loved very intensely, and I was always glad to see him," said Brad Parsons, a friend of Chris's that was there when he died. "You know, he just deserved better than what he got."
Chris's friends are getting together Sunday night to honor his memory with a concert and jam session at The Goodfoot on Stark Street. The show starts at 8 p.m.
