Man drowns after tubing accident in Molalla River

MOLALLA, Ore. - One man drowned after a tubing accident in the Molalla River Sunday afternoon.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Dan Kraus said it happened southeast of Molalla, about two miles away from the Dickie Prairie Store.

A spokesperson with Molalla Fire said three men were tubing in the river when one of the tubes became stuck on a tree root. The man on that tube was pulled under the water and drowned. His name has not been released.

The man was underwater for about 90 minutes before divers could pull him out of the water.

The man's friend tried to help him, but was not successful. He was taken to a hospital with water in his lungs. The third man was not hurt.

None of the men were wearing a life jacket.

The sheriff's office tweeted that the rescue was their second of the day.
