Man sentenced to 200 months in cold-case killing
PORTLAND, Ore. - It took 194 months to put Samuel Lee Etheridge away for 200 months.
Etheridge was sentenced on Wednesday to 200 months in prison for first-degree manslaughter in the 1997 death of 59-year-old John Frederick Phillips.
Cold Case detectives began investigating the case in January 2012, and arrested Etheridge that April in North Carolina.
Phillips was stabbed to death on May 4, 1997 at an apartment in Northeast Portland.
