Man succumbs to injuries, dies after car submerged in Lincoln City
A 47-year-old man has died from injuries he received in a car crash Friday afternoon in Lincoln City.
Edward Bolton Jr. and another person were injured after police say their vehicle fell upside down and became partially submerged in water.
Lincoln City Police responded to a report of a rollover crash on NE East Devils Lake Road approximately 1.2 miles east of SE Port in Lincoln City, where they found a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup upside down and partially submerged in the water.
Three officers entered the water to assist three witnesses who were attempting to extricate the occupants of the vehicle.
Bolton, the driver, was unconscious and transported to a local hospital. The passenger, Murae Van Ras, 24, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries and possible hypothermia.
Police said Wednesday that Bolton was first taken to Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital. But while he was being taken by ambulance to another hospital in the Portland area, he died.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Officer Liden at the Lincoln City Police Dept. at 541-994-3636.
