VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A man wanted in connection with an assault on a 64-year-old man at a popular park in Vancouver was arrested in Salem, Ore., Vancouver police said.
Jason A. Hanson, 23, was arrested Monday on an unrelated charge, according to Vancouver police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.
Police said the victim was walking through Esther Short Park on June 23 when he was approached by a woman who asked him for money. He replied that he did not have any money and the female made an ethnic slur and hit him in the head with a skateboard.
As the victim was calling 911, police say Hanson approached him and began punching him in the face and head.
Hanson will be brought back to Vancouver to face charges in the assault investigation, Kapp said.
