Meat packing plant employee seriously injured by ram
DAYTON, Ore. - An employee at a meat packing plant was seriously injured when a ram that was set to be slaughtered butted him in the head Thursday morning.
The victim was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Oregon Health and Science University in Portland. He suffered serious head injuries, according to Dayton Fire Department Physician John Heiser. His condition is unknown.
The incident happened at Ben's Custom Meat Processing, located in the 13000 block of Amity-Dayton Highway in Yamhill County. The employee was checking on the ram, which was in a pen, when it butted him in the head, Heiser said.
The victim is a 49-year-old man. His name has not been released.
