Missing girl and runaway boy found in downtown Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. - A missing 13-year-old and the runaway boy who she was last seen with have both been found, according to police.
Ayla Venable of Vancouver was last seen Friday afternoon at the Lloyd Center Mall in Northeast Portland.
The teenager had gone there with her mother and two siblings, who dropped her off outside the mall to meet a boy she had met online. Venable was supposed to meet back up with her family a couple of hours later but never showed up.
Police have been looking for her ever since and learned that she had met up with 15-year-old Tremane Jarrod Salazar, a Portland runaway. He was never considered a suspect but police did want to find him since he was also a missing juvenile.
Police located the two Saturday in downtown Portland. Police did not release any further details, other than to say that Venable is no longer considered missing and Salazar is no longer considered a runaway.
Venable's family is new to the area - they came from a small town in Kansas.
Editorial Note: In a previous version of this story, the girl's last name was spelled Venavle. Police issued a correction on Saturday saying her last name is Venable.
