Murder victim's family sues hotel chain after Portland killing
PORTLAND, Ore. —
The family of a woman murdered at the DoubleTree Hotel in Northeast Portland is now suing Hilton, the parent company.
Ashley Benson was strangled in a hotel stairwell on Christmas Day in 2014.
The lawsuit claims DoubleTree should be held liable for not recognizing the situation, that Benson was a sex trafficking victim and that her killer was a client.
Benson's family is also suing Backpage.com -- the ad service where Benson's killer met her.
No comment yet from either Backpage or the Hilton.
