The driver who hit and killed a 38-year-old Albany woman on Highway 34 overnight likely won't be facing any charges, according to the Oregon State Police.

The report said the 49-year-old driver was headed west on Highway 34 just after midnight Wednesday when their Buick hit Janet Irene Steele, who had been walking along the roadway.

Steele died from her injuries.

The OSP report said the driver has been cooperating with the investigation and that "no charges are anticipated."

The crash was roughly two and a half miles east of Corvallis, Ore., near Colorado Lake Road.
