ODOT worker killed during workplace accident in Eastern Oregon
NEAR ECHO, Ore. - A 54-year-old Oregon Department of Transportation worker was killed on the job Tuesday, the agency said.
Oregon State police said the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office was notified of the accidental death of Kendall at 1:15 p.m.
Thompson said it is not yet known exactly what happened. He said Kendall was a transportation maintenance specialist.
He worked for ODOT for more than 29 years, Thompson said. He operated snow plows and helped stranded drivers.
"The ODOT family lost one of our own today," said ODOT Deputy Director Paul Mather. "We all feel his loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his fellow workers."
OSP said it is the lead agency into the investigation of the incident and Oregon OSHA is on scene.
