The Oregon Museum of Science and Insdustry (OMSI) has cancelled its largest star party of the year due to increasing clouds and a chance of rain in the Portland area.

OMSI had planned to host its annual Perseid meteor shower watch parties at both Stub Stewart State Park and Rooster Rock State Park Saturday, August 12 from 9 PM - 12 PM.

The unfortunate forecast will likely cloud the view of the Perseids zipping through space this weekend.

The Perseid is the most popular meteor shower of the year, occurring annually around mid-August.

Let's hope this isn't a foreshadowing of what the weather may be like for another upcoming sky show: the great solar eclipse.
