One dead, one badly hurt, one arrested after stabbing in N.E. Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. - Police found a dead body in the house after a man surrendered to a SERT team hours after a stabbing at a home in N.E. Portland on Thursday.
Police responded to a call in the 4700 block of N.E. 96th Ave. at about 4:15 p.m. and found a 65-year-old man suffering from a life-threatening stab wound. That man, 65-year-old David Karl Kidder, is in critical condition in a Portland hospital.
Police learned the suspect, 47-year-old Wayne Dinayog Nabehet, was in the home.
A SERT team came in and spent about two hours negotiating his surrender, and Nabehet turned himself in a little after 6 p.m.
When police entered the house, they found the body of a 55-year-old man.
The State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Friday to confirm the victim's identity and cause of death, but his identity wasn't released because police haven't tracked down his family yet.
Nabehet is scheduled to appear in court to face murder and assault charges on Friday. He was booked into jail early Friday morning.
