Oregon couple creates Election Day-themed baby announcement
SCAPPOOSE, Ore. —
At a time when many Americans are divided by politics, there's one thing we can all agree on -- a local family's baby announcement was incredibly creative!
Melissa Houglum and her husband Dave decided to announce her pregnancy on Election Day because "it would be the perfect day to bring some joy and happiness to everyone, regardless of who they were voting for!"
The pair used their Oregon mail-in ballot to write-in "Baby Houglum #2" for president, adding an ultrasound picture of the baby wearing some patriotic gear.
"We had an overwhelmingly positive response to our post and people thanked us for sharing such good news on a day that had a lot of people stressed. A baby brings hope and change (especially diaper changing!) and we were hoping to share that hope and bring a smile to everyone's faces. I think our little one on-the-way allowed us to do just that on Election Day and the days following," Melissa wrote to KATU News.
