Peacock Lane opens for Christmas season
PORTLAND, Ore. —
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Southeast Portland.
Peacock Lane opened for the holiday season Friday night.
For those new to Portland, Peacock Lane is a Christmas tradition because all the homes on the street are decked out in holiday splendor.
People say the spirit is so contagious it'll have you going from bah humbug to ho! ho! ho! in no time.
“It gets you into the Christmas spirit, and I like nights like tonight, where it’s just the walking night, where there’s not cars in the way and you can just kind of see more, and there’s not –there’s a lot of people, but it’s not as crowded if there’s cars,” said Kelsey Legato, who was enjoying the lights on Peacock Lane on Friday night.
Friday night was one of several over the next few weeks in which Peacock Lane will be pedestrian only.
The fun gets underway at 6 p.m. every night through New Year's Eve.
