Police: 2 teens threw cement block from I-5 overpass
CRESWELL, Ore. -- State police say two Creswell boys, ages 16 and 17, threw a cement block off an Interstate 5 overpass and onto a car Sunday morning, injuring a woman.
Troopers said on Monday they received tips that that led to identifying the two boys as suspects in the case.
It happened at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday when Michael Becker, 28, of Roy, Washington was driving north on Interstate 5. Troopers said someone threw a cinder block from a Creswell-area overpass that struck the vehicle's windshield.
The block hit passenger Tiffany Becker, 30, in the face. She was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Michael Becker was not hurt, police said.
Troopers say they have contacted the teens and their parents at homes in Creswell. Police said the families are cooperating with the investigation and no arrests have been made.
The suspects' names are not being released at this time because of the ongoing investigation, police said.
Officials from OSP say that when the investigation is complete, they will meet with the Lane County District Attorney's office to decide on potential charges.
