Police arrest man after SE Portland standoff
PORTLAND, Ore. - Police arrested a man early Sunday morning after a standoff that lasted several hours in Southeast Portland.
Gino Brown, 29, faces charges including strangulation, assault in the fourth degree and two counts of menacing.
The Portland police Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) responded to a report of a man threatening others with a gun inside a home in the 500 block of Southeast 155th Avenue just after 9 p.m. Saturday.
Officers learned the suspect, later identified as Brown, was alone in the house when they arrived. Everyone else got out safely.
Several neighboring homes were evacuated while police crisis negotiators tried to communicate with Brown. Southeast Stark Street was blocked in both directions from 153rd to 157th avenues.
SERT team members took Brown into custody early Sunday morning. Police took him to the Multnomah County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
