Police arrest man suspected in hit-and-run that seriously injured Vancouver man
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Police have arrested a 28-year-old man they suspect was the driver in a Thursday morning hit-and-run crash that left a man seriously injured.
The man who was hit, 20-year-old Cody T. Robinson of Vancouver, suffered life-threatening injuries, according to police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.
Robinson is in serious condition in the intensive care unit at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, according to the hospital.
Police arrested James D. Schellhas of Yacolt and booked him into the Clark County Jail. He faces hit-and-run and vehicular assault charges.
The crash happened at the intersection of N.E. Andresen Road and Fourth Plain Boulevard around 5:30 a.m.
Police found an abandoned vehicle, registered to Schellhas in a parking lot behind a McDonald's just south of where the crash occurred. Kapp said the vehicle was involved in the crash and was reported stolen shortly after the crash occurred.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
