Police arrest three suspects in Portland carjacking after chase, crash
PORTLAND, Ore. —
Police took three boys into custody Tuesday after a car chase and crash.
Police allege the boys were involved in a Thursday, March 8 carjacking.
On that day at about 6:30 p.m., police were called to an area near Southeast 117th Avenue and Alder Street. They learned the driver of a Subaru Forester and his teenage son had been carjacked.
Police found the stolen Subaru. While they were near it, but out of sight, they said they saw the three boys get into the vehicle and drive away.
Police tried to stop them, but they fled. Officers gave chase and said the driver of the Forester crashed into an unoccupied Subaru Outback in the 4100 block of Southeast 102nd Avenue.
The three boys got out of the Forester and ran off.
Police set up a perimeter and searched for the boys with the assistance of a police dog. The dog and its handlers found the suspects hiding in the 4000 block of Southeast 104th Avenue.
Police took the suspects into custody without incident.
