Police arrest wanted man at SE Portland Fred Meyer

PORTLAND, Ore. - Police arrested a wanted man at a Southeast Portland Fred Meyer store on Wednesday evening.

Brandon Duane Carter, 25, was wanted on an outstanding parole violation, police said. Officers received unconfirmed reported that Carter may have been armed with a handgun.

Officers approached Carter at Southeast Hawthorne and Cesar Chavez boulevards, but Carter ran away into the nearby Fred Meyer at around 5 p.m.

Several people were evacuated from the store while officers searched for Carter.

Police captured Carter on the second floor of the store. He was not armed, police said.

Police took Carter to the Multnomah County Jail.
