PORTLAND, Ore. – A 50-year-old man died in the hospital after he was seriously injured in a crash with a vehicle in Northwest Portland on Tuesday morning, making for the 17th deadly traffic crash in the city this year.

On Thursday, authorities identified the man as Daniel Feldt, 50, of Portland.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. in the 2700 block of NW Nicolai Street.

First responders arrived to find the man and bicycle on the ground. He was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where officials say he later was pronounced deceased.

Initial reports from investigators said they believe the bicycle left a parking lot on the street, went into the eastbound lane, and crashed into a passing truck.

Authorities have not released the name of the bicycle rider.
