Police: Driver struck and killed pedestrian on NE Sandy Boulevard
PORTLAND, Ore. – A pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver in Northeast Portland Wednesday morning, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle and pedestrian crash near Northeast 78th Avenue and Northeast Sandy Boulevard at 7:18 a.m.
When they arrived, emergency personnel found community members performing CPR on a woman who was lying on the ground.
Medics soon discovered the woman was deceased.
Police say the driver accused of hitting the woman remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The Traffic Division’s Major Crash Team is responding to conduct an investigation.
Officials closed Northeast Sandy Boulevard from Northeast 75th Avenue to Northeast 79th Avenue. They expect it will remain closed for several hours until the crash scene clears.
