Police identify man found dead in SE Portland backyard

PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland police are investigating the death of a man after his body was found in the backyard of a home in Southeast Portland on Saturday.

Police say it is unclear how the man died, but because the man did not live at the home in the 13000 block of Southeast Lincoln Street, homicide detectives were called in to investigate.

On Monday, police identified the man as 31-year-old Chad Wang. Police say the medical examiner is awaiting toxicology results before the exact cause Wang's death can be determined. But police say there were no signs of violence and it wasn't homicide.

The residents of the home called police just after 11 a.m. Saturday, Portland Police Bureau spokesman Pete Simpson says. He says the man had been dead for a few days.

Wang last lived in Bingen, Washington, police say, adding that it is not known if he was a transient when he died.
