Police: Man arrested for eluding officers in minivan with kids inside
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Vancouver police arrested a Portland man who they said led them on a chase with his two young children in his minivan.
Someone called 911 around 5:45 p.m. Sunday to report that they'd seen a man throw a child into a minivan and drive away. Police said the incident began with a domestic dispute between the suspect and his wife.
Officers located the van on Interstate 5 and tried to pull the driver over, but he did not stop, according to police.
Portland police joined the chase and were able to help block the van at an interstate off-ramp near Alberta Street.
All the passengers in the van, including two young children, were related to the suspect, police said.
Officers arrested the 38-year-old man on charges of resisting arrest, reckless endangerment and eluding a police vehicle. His name has not been released.
