Police: Man made online plans to have sex with detective posing as girl
CORVALLIS, Ore. - A Keizer man faces charges of luring and online corruption of a minor after arranging via social media to meet a juvenile girl from Corvallis for sex, police said.
The "girl" was actually an undercover Corvallis Police detective.
Darren Patrick Reames, 40, faces charges of first and second degree online Corruption of a Minor, as well as Luring a Minor. Police booked Reames into the Benton County Jail with bail set at $225,000.
The investigation started May 29 when Reames contacted a person he thought was a female juvenile from Corvallis via an online social network, police said. The person was actually an undercover detective.
After Reames initiated the conversation, his communication immediately turned sexual, police said.
Reames made arrangements to meet the person he thought was the juvenile female for sex on the morning of June 4, police said.
While he was waiting for the girl, Reames was contacted by law enforcement and taken into custody.
