Police officer injured during struggle with domestic violence suspect
PORTLAND, Ore. —
A Portland police officer was injured Wednesday night in a struggle with a man who allegedly threatened someone with a knife at a motel.
The officer wasn’t seriously injured, but was taken to a hospital.
Someone called 911 just after 7 p.m. to report a domestic violence situation at the Portland Value Inn at 1707 N.E. 82nd Ave. The suspect was allegedly threatening the victim with a knife.
Officers arrived and said they tried to talk to the suspect, but he wouldn’t cooperate with them. When the officers tried to take him into custody, they said the suspect fought them and kicked and injured one of the officers.
Police took 23-year-old Justin L. Fowler into custody, where he’s facing charges that include felony domestic violence, assaulting a public safety officer and resisting arrest.
