Police say known gang member charged in April shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. - A 20-year-old man police said is a known gang member was arrested last weekend and charged in connection with a shooting in April.

Alejandro Ray Vance Jr. was charged with attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangerment, possession of a loaded firearm, discharging a firearm in the city and pointing a firearm at another.

The shooting happened on April 28 near N. Killingsworth and Minnesota Ave. Two cars were hit.

Police said Vance threw away a handgun and ran from police at the time. He was arrested soon after and charged with unlawful use of a weapon.

Police said that detectives got enough information in the meantime to charge him in connection with the shooting.

Vance was arraigned Monday.
