Police say man struck stepfather with machete before SWAT standoff
PORTLAND, Ore. - A 39-year-old man is in jail after striking his stepfather with a machete, Portland police said.
The arrest came around 3 a.m., hours after a SWAT team was sent in to assist officers who had gone to investigate a report of domestic violence at 10200 N. Midway Ave.
Bradley Wyatt was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of methadone and menacing.
When police arrived at the home, Wyatt refused to come out. He was alone, but police believed he was armed.
Wyatt will be arraigned Monday.
Correction: The Portland Police Bureau initially said the victim was Wyatt's father-in-law. The victim is actually Wyatt's stepfather.
