Portland Commissioner Nick Fish announces he has cancer, will undergo chemotherapy
PORTLAND, Ore. —
Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish announced he has been diagnosed with cancer.
In a letter posted on the city website, Fish said he was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the abdomen, or stomach cancer. He says he plans to undergo chemotherapy at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute.
Fish says he will continue serving on city council.
"This is the biggest challenge I have ever faced. I intend to fight this disease with every fiber of my body," Fish wrote.
