PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland officials want to make Portland International Airport even better.

They’ve been working on a $1.3 billion renovation plan that would take between five and seven years to complete.

Renovations would include overhauling the center of the terminal. This would give Southwest and Alaska their own gates.

It would also add more parking, which is something travelers said they would like to see.

“When we're being dropped off, there's a lot of congestion. So I think a parking situation would really help out,” said Kana Howe, a PDX traveler.

Airlines must approve the renovations before the plans are official.

The airport said they expect the approval to happen sometime in the fall.
