Portland man dies kayaking in Grand Canyon National Park
GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. -- Rangers at Grand Canyon National Park are trying to figure out how a Portland man died on a kayaking trip on the Colorado River.
Curtis Joyce was part of a nine-person, 12-day private trip on the river. Rangers say his fellow kayakers found him capsized and unresponsive on the river late Tuesday. Due to the time of day, rangers were not able to fly in and get the 31-year-old's body out until Wednesday.
The National Park Service and the Coconino County medical examiner will lead the investigation into Joyce's death.
