KAMIAH, Idaho (KBOI) — A 42-year-old woman has died after the vehicle she was riding in crashed down an embankment in northern Idaho.

Idaho State Police says a 26-year-old Paul man was driving north on Woodland Road about eight miles from Highway 12 Tuesday evening when he lost control of his Chevy pickup and went off the road. The truck ended up crashing 150 feet down an embankment.

Troopers say a passenger, 42-year-old Tracy Schiedler of Portland, died at the scene of the crash. The driver was airlifted to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston and a juvenile was taken to Clearwater Hospital in Orofino. A 40-year-old Kamiah woman refused medical treatment.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
