Prepare now, leaf pickup starts this weekend
PORTLAND, Ore. —
Portland Bureau of Transportation crews are getting ready for the first day of leaf pickup, which starts this Saturday.
An estimated 250,000 trees drop leaves every year on Portland streets.
Last year, PBOT says crews cleared more than 7,000 tons of those leaves.
Officials say before your leaf day, make sure to rake your leaves 12 inches away from the curb and moves things out of the way.
"Make sure to move any basketball hoops or other large objects away from the curb so they can get right up to the curb and get the best sweep possible," said Dylan Rivera, spokesman for PBOT.
The service runs this Saturday through Dec. 20.
