Robbery suspect hits store clerk with ax; suspect in custody

CAMAS, Wash. - A store clerk escaped serious injury Wednesday morning after a robbery suspect threw an ax at him, hitting him in the head.

Police said the suspect 23-year-old Kiki Kiril Silva McKendree from Washougal was armed with an ax and demanded money from the clerk at the 7 Market at 3520 N.E. 3rd Avenue around 10:20 a.m.

Police said he was caught after police found his vehicle at the Port of Washougal and used a police dog to find him.

The attack left the clerk with a minor abrasion on his forehead, which did not require medical attention.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the incident.
