Ron Tonkin, well-known car-dealership owner, dead at 82
PORTLAND, Ore. - Ron Tonkin, who launched one of the largest car-dealership chains in Oregon, died at the age of 82 on Friday.
Tonkin was a familiar face thank to the many commercials in which he and his sons starred.
Tonkin's parents founded Tonkin Motors on S.E. Grand, and at the age of 28 he became the youngest Chevrolet dealer in the U.S.
"He was truly a giant, who touched the lives of many," said Greg Remensperger of the Oregon Auto Dealers Association.
