Salem woman pleads guilty to sexually abusing boy
SALEM, Ore. (AP) A Salem woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy.
The Statesman Journal reports 35-year-old Sarah Beth Hopkins agreed to plead guilty to five of the 10 charges against her. She'll be sentenced on Jan. 29 in Marion County Circuit Court.
The victim's mother called the sheriff's office in August. She was suspicious of her former neighbor and close friend, Hopkins, and the relationship she had with her son, according to Marion County Sheriff's Office spokesman Don Thomson.
The boy would often go to Hopkins' apartment and go on walks with Hopkins. The two had sex at the apartment and occasionally in public places during the walks, Thomson said.
The victim told his mother last August he was sexually active.
