Season of Giving: Salvation Army's Angel Tree
KATU News is celebrating the Season of Giving this week, each day bringing you another way you can give back to your community this holiday season.
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree brings the magic of Christmas back for 3,000 local families just like Lupita Cordero.
She's a domestic violence survivor and a mother of four who works two jobs - but it still isn't enough.
Thanks to the Angel Tree program last year, her 11-year-old son with autism was gifted a new pair of shoes.
"Oh I say thank you from the bottom of my heart," she said. "It's very hard when you don't have food to put on the table. It's very hard when you see your kids in need of something and you can't provide."
If you'd like to help a local family this holiday season, just find an Angel Tree near you, pick up a tag, buy the suggested gift, and drop it back off at the same tree.
