Sheriff: Wife dies, husband injured in shooting at Turner home
TURNER, Ore. – Detectives are working to find out what led up to a shooting in Turner on Sunday evening that left a woman dead and her husband in the hospital.
On Monday, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office identified the woman who died as Judy Stanfill, 52, of Turner.
The investigation started about 4:30 p.m. Sunday when Judy’s husband, 53-year-old Clayton Stanfill, showed up at the Turner Fire Department with a gunshot wound. Emergency personnel immediately started first aid and he is expected to survive the injury.
Deputies went to the couple's home near the intersection of 3rd and Ash streets and found Mrs. Stanfill deceased.
“Detectives are still working to determine exactly what happened yesterday afternoon in the Stanfill home,” officials said Monday. “Detectives do not believe anyone else was involved in the incident and there is no immediate danger to the public.”
