Springfield man accused of stabbing brother

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A man is accused of stabbing his brother multiple times in the leg on Saturday night during a fight that started with an argument about family finances, police said.

Dispatchers received the reported stabbing at around 7:50 p.m. at a Springfield apartment complex.

Arriving officers determined that two brothers, Dominic Ramirez, 25, and Daniel Ramirez, 23, lived at the apartments with their mother, Dena Rae Ramirez.

The fight moved outside as Dominic chased his younger brother and mother out of the home with a knife, police said.

Officials said that Daniel was stabbed several times in the process, with multiple injuries in his lower right leg and thigh. He was taken to a hospital.

Springfield officers found Dominic Ramirez inside the apartment and took him into custody on assault charges. He was taken to the Lane County Jail.

Police said that the mother was not hurt during the fight.
