Starlight's over, but we've still got the Junior and Grand Floral parades
PORTLAND, Ore. - If you missed the Portland General Electric Starlight Parade over the weekend, there are still two more Rose Festival parades you can watch.
On Wednesday, thousands of kids will wind their way through the Hollywood District in northeast Portland for the Fred Meyer Junior Parade.
This year's Grand Marshal is Rojo, a therapy llama that visits local children's hospitals, schools, senior communities, etc.
And then there's the crown jewel of the Rose Festival season - the Spirit Mountain Casino Grand Floral Parade - where floats covered in flowers make their way from the Memorial Coliseum to downtown Portland. That's coming up on Saturday.
This year's Grand Marshal is Gerry Frank, a well-known Oregonian who has contributed much to the state.
More Rose Festival Fun
The Dairy Farmers of Oregon Milk Carton Boat Races are being held Sunday at Westmoreland Park in the Sellwood area. This is where folks make their own watercrafts out of milk jugs or cartons and then see how well they can navigate them across the casting pond at the park.
The Portland-Kaohsiung Sister City Association Dragon Boat Race is also this weekend at Tom McCall Waterfront Park and the Rose Cup Races, the oldest amateur road racing event west of the Mississippi River, are coming up the weekend of June 14-16.
