Survivor in MAX stabbing released from hospital
PORTLAND, Ore. —
Micah Fletcher was released from the hospital Monday night.
The 21-year-old was one of the three men who stepped in to protect the two girls being harassed on the MAX last Friday when police said Jeremy Christian stabbed the men, killing two and seriously wounding Fletcher.
Fletcher’s neck was slashed, missing a main artery by just millimeters.
His family said he was released at 7 p.m. and is back home.
Rick Best, 53, and Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche, 23, died in the attack.
Mayor Ted Wheeler wants the city to erect a permanent memorial to the men.
Thousands of people have already donated to the various crowdfunding campaigns to support those three men and the girls they stood up for. So far, donations top $1 million.
