Teen girl hit, killed by train

The Linn County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 16-year-old-girl. Sara-Tessa Raechelle Lytle was hit and killed by a train in Albany on Saturday night.

It happened near Highway 99E and Beta Drive. A railroad employee called 9-1-1 said Lytle was walking south on the track s in a dark, unlit area. The train was going 40 MPH and Lytle was alone when she was hit.

Lytle was a student at West Albany High School. The school district will have grief counselors at school on Monday.
