17-year-old arrested on attempted murder charge as suspect in Bethany shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. – Police arrested a 17-year-old boy Monday as the suspect accused of shooting another teenager in the Bethany neighborhood last week.

Jeffrey Terrell, 17, of Springfield, will be booked into the Donald E. Long Detention Center on attempted murder and first-degree assault charges.

Detectives say he was wanted as a suspect after a 16-year-old was shot and injured inside his Bethany home. The victim has since been released from the hospital and is expected to recover.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force took Terrell into custody Monday afternoon near Providence Park.

No word on the events that led up to the shooting, or Terrell’s connection with the victim.
