Vancouver kids send cards, candy to Reynolds HS students

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- One by one they piled in, turning the library at Vancouver's Hough Elementary School into a makeshift assembly line.

"I hope they smile," said third grader Cameron.

They don't fully understand what happened Tuesday at Reynolds High School, and that's probably for the best, but they did know the students there were sad and they wanted to help.

So the Joy Team, a nonprofit created by a school teacher and her daughter, organized a goodie-bag get-together. They packed about 3,000 bags with uplifting cards and candy, then delivered them to the school.

Organizers hope the goodie bags will help the students forget about what happened Tuesday, if only for a moment or two.
