Vancouver teacher under investigation for 'misconduct'
VANCOUVER, WA -- A Skyview High School teacher is being investigated by a Maryland police department for misconduct.
The Vancouver School District put social studies teacher and baseball coach Eric Estes on paid administrative leave on Friday.
The district said he will remain on paid leave pending the outcome of an investigation by Frederick City Police in Maryland.
A Frederick Police spokesman told KATU the department is investigating a man from Clark County, but would not identify Estes by name. He said the investigation was for "misconduct between an adult male and a juvenile."
Estes played minor league baseball for the Frederick Keys in 1997.
Pat Mattison, a spokeswoman for Vancouver schools, told KATU the district has never received any complaints about Estes in the decade he has been employed, nor in the years he spent as a coach prior to his employment by the district.
Estes has not been arrested, nor charged with any crime.
